NOTICE FOR CONSULTANCY

Guyana, with technical assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is currently implementing Stage II Tranche I of the HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP).  The Stage II Tranche I HPMP project is a comprehensive strategy aimed at phasing-out ozone depleting substances (ODS), and in particular, the hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) in the refrigeration and air-conditioning sector.  To achieve this objective the Ministry of Agriculture has been working to improve practices in the use of ODS and alternatives technologies within the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.  To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture is seeking the services of a consultant to undertake the following activities:


OBJECTIVES OF ASSIGNMENT

  • Develop one (1) study and training manual for refrigeration and air conditioning technicians to be licensed on safe handling of refrigerants
  • Conduct one training workshop for technicians based on the manual to better equip technicians to undertake the written assessment in order to be licensed
  • Assist technical institutions in setting up refrigeration and air conditioning training laboratories

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Specialised training in refrigeration, air-conditioning or related field from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum experience of at least 10 years in training on refrigeration and air conditioning and alternative technologies
  • A minimum of 10 years working experience in education and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of Montreal Protocol related issues and of environmental policy will be considered an asset.
